In the past, I have thrown whatever is handy at the last hour without thinking through like "What can go together? How many days will I be gone?" In the end, I have two HEAVY suitcases ready when I only need one. Then, I don't know what to pull out to downsize because I am out of time.
This time, I started a few days ahead of time and actually was together enough to finish and make a few more tops that I can wear. After all, it's good advertising for the vendors show since I started selling tunics on Etsy this past year.
The multi color top to the right is one that I made by re-purposing with the left over scraps straight off the Studio floor.
The Green tunic below is a variation of the tunics I design, but without the double-wide side hemline tails. It's a little more streamlined and very flattering.
The Gray and White striped tunic is a very simple design, and one where the fabric actually gives the detail.
Of course, I ran out of time to get the Studio cleaned and straightened back up before leaving! I left piles of stuff together hoping that when I get home it's the first thing I am able to do. In fact, I need to get it cleaned up so I can get to creating the custom orders that are waiting for me. Maybe the Studio elves will come in while I'm gone! (and I don't mean you, Delphia!)
Check out the colorful oil paintings from our Open Oil Painting Day class with Mary Sasse. I love the freedom to do what we want in this class. I am also pleased with the changes we have made in the class design. You can sign up for one class to see if you like oil painting and then sign up for more as your schedule allows if you decide it's something you'd like to do.
I'll be really honest. I didn't think I was going to like oil painting at all.... I didn't want to make anything straight from a picture. Period. The end. BUT I was wrong. Now, don't tell my husband that, because he's finally getting the picture that I'm always right. LOL!! I find oil painting rather relaxing. After all, the canvas can be painted over if you make a mistake.
On to Art Unraveled!
Our plane left out at 6:35 Sunday morning and we were here in Phoenix at 7:20 in the morning. These are the views from the balcony at out hotel. After 11 years of coming out here, it feels like home.
We know the good places to eat, have our routine down pat, enjoy a day of relaxing before the conference starts and love the peacefulness and laughter of time spent with other like minded souls and friends.
If you haven't checked this conference out yet, look at the great line up of teachers at ART Unraveled 2015.
Definitely a fun packed week!
